Comparison

OKLocate vs Mapbox

Developer-first maps: vector tiles, a styling studio, SDKs, navigation and search, worldwide.

Where OKLocate is the better choice

Storage is not a separate product here. Mapbox sells geocoding twice, as a temporary endpoint and a permanent one you pay more for, so keeping an answer is a pricing decision you make per call. Ours is one endpoint and one rate, and the result is yours either way. Then there is everything under the map: Mapbox hands you tiles, we hand you the building, with 88 measured columns per house, the point cloud they came from, and a county-wide search over them.

Where Mapbox is the better choice

Map styling and the SDKs around it. Mapbox Studio and GL JS are better tools for designing a map than anything we ship, and their coverage is global.

What it would cost you

Put your own volume in. Every field is editable, and the answer says so when Mapbox works out cheaper.

How you pay today

Pre-filled for Mapbox. $5.00 per 1,000 for permanent geocoding, the kind you may store. Temporary geocoding is cheaper but may not be retained, which is the comparison that matters here. The price is a tie here, so the question is what you get for it: the maps, imagery and property measurements on the same key, and no restriction on storing the answers.

In short

Choose Mapbox when the map itself is the product and you want to design it. Choose OKLocate when you need what is ON the ground in the US, priced flat.
